Obama on Letterman

President Obama ended his television interview circuit with an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman last Monday. If you happened to tune into last week's show, then you probably heard our president bring up the topic of retrofitting old buildings to make them more energy efficient. It's encouraging to hear our nation's leader focusing on 'green' solutions to not only jump start the economy by creating jobs, but also to help conserve our country's natural resources. Letterman joked about the outdated air conditioning system pumping cool air into their massive studio building everyday, but the sad thing is that he couldn't be more on target. Most buildings and homes today are wasting enormous amounts of energy due to a number of reasons: outdated HVAC equipment, leaky air ducts, lack of insulation, etc. These problems are all easy fixes and very cost effective. Electric bill reductions will be seen immediately after making smart energy efficient updates to your home or building. So while the war and health care debates continue, our country can at least agree on one clear cut issue: it's time to stop wasting energy by updating our homes and buildings.
