Lansing Island Custom Green Home

In late July, Balda Development & Construction broke ground on the first Florida Designated Green Home in Satellite Beach. Through the use of innovative technologies in the green building industry, Balda Development & Construction’s home will achieve astounding energy efficiency not typically associated with a large, waterfront Florida property. Some of the features being evaluated include solar roof panels, Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), Low-E impact resistant windows and doors, dual flush toilets, tankless hot water heaters, and solar pool heating. Several local and out-of-town builders have come to watch the incorporation of these green building techniques throughout different phases of the project in Lansing Island. Using programs from the Florida Green Building Coalition, Energy Star, Florida Power & Light, and U.S. Department of Energy, the house will significantly surpass all energy standards set forth by the state. This means lower energy bills for the home owner and less drain on our community’s natural resources.
